Home made

Neck

7 piece neck constructed from Irish walnut with thick centre rock maple, sandwiched with maple/pear wood strips. The heelcap is 6mm thick ebony and choice mother of pearl inlay offered. In the above samples are a pair of dancing clogs and a bunch of shamrocks.

Headstock

Exquisitely shaped multi layered headstock design with Rioga name/logo in mother of pearl. The deluxe model is offered in various inlay designs.

Rim

All our deluxe model rims are constructed from 3 layers of block rim made from Irish sycamore. The inner and outer rim are then veneered to match the neck wood. There is a very high level of binding finishing/wood marquetry around the rim sides and bottom end.

Armrest

This is a unique design John has come up with and re-uses the off cut from the neck.

Tone ring

Our tone rings are cast in Ayrshire in a small blacksmith workshop. We use a mixture of pure copper and tin to produce a deep bell tone which we believe gives our banjos it’s tonal quality.

Flange

Our own unique 3mm steel / nickel plated flanges of various designs are waterjet cut in Ireland.
